Protection of criminal victims
During the last 6 months, AWEN has been defending 19 victims of criminal offenses in the District Courts. All cases have experienced crimes of gender-based violence against them and their family members.
"The biggest challenge of women in politics is being a woman." This is not a perception, but a data measured during the research conducted by AWEN - the Women's Empowerment Network of Albania with the support of the National Democratic Institute, which focused on "Political representation and the participation of underrepresented groups in the electoral process. "
The findings and recommendations of this analytical report were presented in the second half of September, 2023, in the presence of political representatives, civil society partner organizations and journalists. During the presentation, it was discussed the need for public institutions to ensure the implementation of electoral legislation in order not to harm, even indirectly, individuals who are part of underrepresented groups such as women in rural areas, young people, the Roma and Egyptian community, persons with disabilities and LGBTIQ+.

AWEN was part of the protest organized on March 8 on International Women's Rights Day against social injustices and inequalities.
