Protection of criminal victims
During the last 6 months, AWEN has been defending 19 victims of criminal offenses in the District Courts. All cases have experienced crimes of gender-based violence against them and their family members.
The Women's Empowerment Network in Albania-AWEN, on April 18, 2024, was part of the workshop "Technical Assistance Program: Gender equality in access to economic opportunities in Albania 2022-2024". During the workshop, it was announced that French and Albanian expertise has supported women in the workplace through the Labor Inspectorate. Through inspection, cases of gender discrimination, violence, violations of women's rights at work are addressed, but also the implementation of laws to protect these rights. It was also emphasized the commitment through legal advice and assistance, in strengthening gender equality and ensuring a fair working environment for all women and girls.
During this workshop, AWEN introduced the attendees to the role and contribution of women's organizations since their creation. The current challenges and context of the organizations were also part of the discussion.

AWEN was part of the protest organized on March 8 on International Women's Rights Day against social injustices and inequalities.
