Protection of criminal victims
During the last 6 months, AWEN has been defending 19 victims of criminal offenses in the District Courts. All cases have experienced crimes of gender-based violence against them and their family members.
On December 23, 2023, the Albanian Helsinki Committee, on its 33rd anniversary, organized a press conference where it shared the findings from a 2-year monitoring period (2022-2023) regarding the state of human rights in our country. From the findings, the report revealed a disturbing regression in basic rights, such as: access to justice, right to life, information, media freedom, etc.
As a strong voice in the protection of human rights and mainly the rights of women and girls in our country, AWEN was also part of the conference, which again emphasized the need for more attention, reflection and concrete action on the recommendations and concerns that were have been addressed to the authorities by civil society.

AWEN was part of the protest organized on March 8 on International Women's Rights Day against social injustices and inequalities.
